Presenting the Blossom Headpieces & Accessories’s Nautical Shoot- where setting sail is hot on trend. Featuring treasures from the new headwear range, Blossom Headpieces & Accessories are showcasing nautical colours including navy, red, cream and black as the seasonal winter shades. The floral arrangement of the nautical range includes classic blooms of roses and peonies, thereby keeping femininity a consistent theme amongst the collections.

The Blossom story begins with head designer and Brisbane fashionista, Adrienne Grace Keller who draws her inspiration from the bridal beauty of Elizabeth Taylor. The glamourous 50’s style icon, was pictured on her wedding day wearing a decadent floral crown, an image Adrienne still idolises. While a picture might be worth a thousand words, only four became apparent to Adrienne which would ignite a new business venture: Blossom Headpieces & Accessories.

Today, I cannot help but admire the craftsmanship of the beautiful wreaths that present as the statement piece within the shoot. If I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be the red and cream crown which added vibrance to a classic black ensemble. Outside of the shoot, this headpiece would be a fantastic accessory for a day at the races or dressy occasion. An enviable wardrobe was provided by Vigari Fashion, an edgy boutique located in Stones Corner, Brisbane. Stocking seasonal trends, jewellery and accessories, Vigari is the perfect stop for a taste of new seasonal style. Stylist and store owner Eleni compiled each look favouring structured cuts, luxe leather, cute prints and bright coloured staples. Her keen eye for fashion has regenerated the nautical trend featuring new seasonal pieces including a printed anchor knit, a stripy tunic, a monochrome high waisted skirt and a babydoll dress. Judging my previous postings, it comes as no shock that I am an avid lover of Cotton & Co Jewellery. The beautiful pearl pieces and minted coin pendants became a prominent feature of the nautical trend, in the form of delicate bracelets, statement neckpieces and a dazzling ring. My favourite piece, an Italian made curb chain on which hangs a large coin pendant. Interestingly, this coin is a 1937 Crown, the same rare piece issued for the coronation of King George VI. Finally, an outfit is not complete until garnished with accessories. Mascotte shoes & accessories is known for their high profile, quality and innovative products. Imagine my excitement to feature pieces from their AW13-14 collection in this nautical shoot. I felt like a young Carrie Bradshaw as I selected my hearts desires, (in this case classic pumps, statement handbags and clutches). As I am partial to suede fabric, I loved my choices of a cobalt suede pump, a red suede ankle boot and a black suede pump with taupe trimmings. Since the arrival of my Lily King wishbone necklace, I have been awaiting the chance to style a AW13/14 minimalist ensemble. The best thing about minimalist fashion is that it eliminates over indulging on clothes and places emphasis on staple pieces. Not to mention, the simple execution of minimalist fashion is what deems a look as effortlessly cool.

I have styled last years REDBERRY faux fur vest with this seasons threads, particularly focusing on a balanced juxtaposition within the multi textures of the luxe leather, patent, and fur. The simplicity of the white tee lifts the dark tones in the outfit and is completed by a splash of silver seen in the wishbone necklace. Otherwise, the perfect look for a casual rendezvous and coffee at the Valley Emporium, with my favourite blogger Lauren, from Love, The Fringe.

When it comes to the trends of statement jewellery, a common perception indicates that size certainly matters. Style has often dictated that statement jewellery relies on big, bold and chunky designs, as seen in the collections from Chanel, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Givenchy. In saying that however, I love the statement made by a delicate pendant and chain, like this dainty Lily King Wishbone necklace. Simplistic and yet elegant, this piece manages to compliment the outfit without becoming OTT, not to mention, a wishbone is considered to be a lucky charm!

Style Tip: combine understated embellishment with a minimalistic ensemble including dark denim/wet look tights, a crisp white buttoned shirt and black loafers. Alternatively, tone down a bold aztec print with a fine chain and detailed pendant.

One of my favourite things about fashion shoots (aside from seeing the final images) is the collaborative process with industry professionals. As you already know from this previous blog post, I cannot resist the exquisite range from Cotton & Co. Can you imagine my excitement upon hearing they would feature in my upcoming nautical shoot?
