eShakti Bow Tie Polka Dot Burnout Organza Dress, Marilyn Van Den Berg Millinery, Wittner Heels (similar style here), Spanish Earrings (similar style here).

An exciting delivery arrived at The Blonde Silhouette HQ recently; a glam garment of sorts that awaited the perfect opportunity for its first debut. In the carefully wrapped parcel sat a beautiful, delicate frock, constructed from a playful, polka dot, organza fabric. It spoke a sophisticated high neckline and a voluminous A-line skirt, with a little too much sass. I was instantly reminded of the sheer timelessness and glamour of Audrey Hepburn and knew that this dress called for suitable accessories that too spoke elegance and femininity.

Just like Miss Hepburn, I favoured a statement hat, with a brim that most would envy, from none other than Marilyn Van Den Berg Millinery. Jewellery was kept simple and chic, highlighting a pair of Spanish earrings, brought back as a gift from my parent’s recent trip to Barcelona. As for heels, I opted for a Mary-Jane style pump, demure for the ultimate day at the races.

Are you as smitten with this old-school Hollywood glamour as I am? Leave me a love note in the comments below! x

Review Rio Dress, Nine West Sasha Heels, Mimco Supernatural Medium Pouch, Marilyn Van den Berg Headpiece, Swarovski Earrings (similar style here), Michael Kors Blair Rose Gold Watch.

Just as everyone is packing away monochrome headpieces after Derby Day, Melbourne Cup is about to begin. Cue the colour blocking and fancy headwear, here’s my tips and tricks to making a statement at the Melbourne Cup Raceday.

1. Bring out the bold! When putting together your Melbourne Cup ensemble, I recommend starting with an all over bold colour! I couldn’t resist this head turning, Review dress as it compliments my blonde hair and porcelain skin tone perfectly.

2. Colour blocking combos. I’ll be the first to admit, I was little thrown when it came to pairing this frock with a headpiece. I considered going down a metallic direction and teaming this rio red with gold, however it just didn’t excite me. My lovely friend over at Marilyn Van den Berg Millinery had the fabulous idea of creating some colour blocking goodness, suggesting a hot pink piece, and viola – these tones look fabulous together! Brisbane ladies, make sure you visit Marilyn Van den Berg to pick up your last minute headwear ahead of this fabulous day.

3. Tie in complimentary accessories. With all the pink tones in this outfit, I have decided to style some blush, rose gold accessories from top to bottom. I’m especially loving these new Nine West points that I picked up just for my Melbourne Cup soiree. Coupled with some rose gold jewellery and a two tone Mimco pouch, I’m feeling as sparkly as ever.

Brisbane girls, if you are looking for the perfect raceday plans, then check out the exquisite Melbourne Cup High Tea hosted by Bacchus. Tickets are still available, so book your seat now.

Cue Floral Satin Spliced Dress, Murley & Co Latex Crown in Rose Gold, Swarovski Lunar Earrings, Jo Mercer Lockhart Heels (similar style here), Oroton Clutch (similar style here), Michael Kors, Michael Kors Blair Watch.

If you’ve been on the gram lately, you’ll already know that my weekend consisted of new season cue, crowns and champagne as I co-judged Brisbane Racing Club’s Fashions on the Field at the James Boag Doomben 10,000 Races. Sitting alongside Brisbane’s most fashionable, Kelly Alderman of Hunt + Kelly, Mark Ferguson of Wil Valor and 2014 Miss World Australia Courtney Thorpe, I was on the look out for a winner with a bold sense of style, a clever touch of metallics and a killer pair of shoes. To see the well deserved winners, check out @brisbaneracingclub.

As for my little ensemble, the styling of this prestigious race day calls for a tailored with a touch of metallic dress code, so naturally I turned to my favourite label, Cue who specialise in perfectly tailored pieces. This gown features an opulent floral print in a wintery colour palette, and a luxe satin fabric. The asymetrical, off the shoulder neckline and boned bodice create a flattering, feminine silhouette, making this dress the perfect statement for a fancy occasion.

Channeling a regal vibe, I chose a beautiful Rose Gold Latex Crown from Melbourne based milliner Murley & Co. A delicate leafy texture is highlighted against the brushed, rose gold hue, creating an ethereal tone – a signature of Carla Murley’s craftsmanship. If you haven’t already become familiar with this millinery queen then I suggest you follow her gram.

Are there any Brisbane fashionista’s attending Ladies’ Oaks Day at Eagle Farm this weekend? How do you plan to rule Fashions on the Field? Leave me a little tip in the comments below!

Seduce Alexa Dress, Wittner Rover Heels, Pandora Timeless Elegance Pendant, Pandora Timeless Elegance Hanging Earrings, Pandora Timeless Elegance Ring, Pandora Luminous Leaves Pearl & Silver Ring, Pandora Crystallised Floral Fancy Ring, Pandora Shimmering Leaves Ring.

I’m totally geared up for this year’s Melbourne Cup, and while I’ll be bringing the trackside glamour to my office (#girlboss), I’m excited to share with you fashionista’s, my tips and tricks to looking fabulous on the field in 4 simple steps!

1. The Feminine Frock

When it comes to Melbourne Cup fashion, I like to keep things classic and feminine, which is reflected in my choice of dress. Since Seduce dropped their latest spring collection, I have been lusting over this little monochromatic number, the Alexa dress. From the sheer panelled bodice, to the lacey hemline, this piece becomes the perfect little races ensemble, allowing for versatility in the choice of headwear and accessories. Also, check out Shopbop’s selection of gorgeous cocktail dresses for the occasion!

2. Striking Headwear

Fascinators, headbands and hats – oh my! It’s a tough choice to decide upon the perfect headwear for your outfit, but I recommend going for something striking! Think texture, colour or structure, but make sure your headwear harmonises with the rest of your ensemble. The trends predicted for this year’s Melbourne Cup headwear include metallic crowns, smaller structured hats and veils. I’m taking my inspiration from Jen Hawkins, who graced the Myer racewear lookbook wearing a lace veiled fascinator – HOT! I’m also lusting over a few pieces from Shopbop’s hair accessories category, perfect for the low maintenance pony.

3. Bold Lips

When it comes to beauty, one of the quickest ways to create that racing WOW factor, is with a bright, bold kisser. The latest lip range from Napoleon Perdis highlights vibrant pinks and candy corals, with sheer, glossy finishes. I myself am going for the classic red lip to enhance my porcelain skin (and match my killer mani of course).

4. Bring The Bling

Curating a stand out outfit requires attention to detail, and your choice of jewellery helps to add the final sparkle. Layered rings and fine pendants are very on trend this season, and Pandora’s Magnificent Kingdom collection features some exquisite pieces, so layer up ladies!

I would love to see you all dressed up to the nines and looking gorgeous next Tuesday, so feel free to snapchat me your outfits, tbsilhouette! x
